Integrating Conventional and Biologic Therapies in the Management of IBD: A Clinical Conversation- Crohn’s disease (CD) and ulcerative colitis (UC)—known collectively as inflammatory bowel disease (IBD)—are chronic, inflammatory disorders that can become disabling over time. Because IBD is a lifelong chronic inflammatory disorder, the importance of maintaining symptomatic control and remission is critical to minimizing short- and long-term complications. Despite this, many patients with IBD receive suboptimal care that is not consistent with published guidelines or expert opinion.
